Servant of the Lake Hint: Puzzle Help for Every Day

Direct answer

The most useful general hint is to finish the current spoken duty before exploring ahead. For the free preview: sort the cups by stripe count outside, then read animated portraits in the lock's order inside. For the full game: each day layers new mechanisms onto the same household-duty structure, so an object that will not respond usually needs an earlier task finished first, not a different puzzle solved.

How to use these hints

This page covers the verified Servant of the Lake Demo and mobile Lite opening, then the full premium game across Days 1–3, moving from a light clue to a direct answer for each obstacle. Stop after the first paragraph in a section if you only want a nudge, then continue when you want the complete dependency. For every numbered step, screenshot, and the full route in order, see the complete walkthrough.

The preview behaves like a chain of household duties rather than a set of independent rooms. A door or object often remains inactive because a conversation, item handoff, or earlier task is incomplete. Listen to the exact request, inspect the nearby environment, and use every collected object before assuming the game has failed.

Hint for paying the coachman

Light hint: the coachman's fee is not hidden in the carriage and does not require real money. Two similar objects can be collected outside, and they belong with a group visible through a window. Look for a property that differs across every object in that group.

Direct answer: collect one tin cup from a house window and a second from the compartment below the coach. Place both with the three cups at the other window, then arrange all five from one stripe through five stripes. The first cup reveals the coin that pays the coachman.

Hint for finding the house key

Light hint: paying the coachman changes the outside scene and leaves behind a tool. The planter area contains a floor detail that does not match the surrounding boards. Use the tool on that detail rather than on the locked door.

Direct answer: after the coachman leaves, take the iron bar from the ground. Return to the planter, work the loose board free with the bar, and collect the key underneath. Use the key in the front door and turn it to enter.

Hint for signing the contract

Light hint: the maid gives you a writing tool, but it is not ready to mark the paper immediately. The table holds the second material needed to prepare it. Watch for a visible change before using it on the signature line.

Direct answer: take the crow feather, dip it in the inkwell, and drag or place the inked feather on the contract. Speak to the maid again after the signature is accepted. Her next request begins the breakfast sequence.

Hint for the portrait lock

Light hint: each relevant portrait performs a small repeated action when selected. Count what Alexandra shows, what Aldous moves, and what William does with his eyes. Then use the portraits printed on the lock to decide the order.

Direct answer: Alexandra raises two fingers, Aldous shakes his watch three times, and William blinks five times. The box orders those observations as Alexandra, Aldous, William, so enter 235. Take the sugar after it opens.

Hint for getting the matches

Light hint: the matches are associated with the cat, but the cat will not simply hand them over. A low opening elsewhere gives you an unpleasant object that fits a cat's interest. Complete that exchange and inspect what the cat leaves behind.

Direct answer: tap the low wall hole to receive the dead mouse, return to the cat, and give it the mouse. The cat moves away and leaves the matches. Those matches light the kitchen stove.

Hint for making porridge

Light hint: the kitchen note gives both the tools and the order. The stove needs fuel and ignition before the pot and ingredients can finish cooking. Search the kitchen and the rooms tied to the portrait lock and maid.

Direct answer: collect wood, matches, the small pot, milk, oats, and sugar. Put the wood in the stove, light it, close the door, place the pot on top, then add milk, oats, and sugar. Take the porridge after it heats.

Hint for opening Aldous's bedroom progress

Light hint: the bedroom is controlled by the breakfast assignment, not by another hidden outdoor key. Return to the area near the low wall opening after cooking and after speaking to the maid. Check whether the story now allows the bedroom route.

Direct answer: complete the contract and initial porridge chain first, then return to the room where the mouse was obtained. The collected route says Aldous's room becomes available as the duty advances. If it remains unavailable, revisit the maid and finish any repeated breakfast dialogue.

Hint for the patterned box

Light hint: this box is visual rather than numerical. Each movable tile has a target pattern displayed below it, so no outside code is required. Work one position at a time and compare the orientation carefully.

Direct answer: rotate or move every patterned tile until it matches the example beneath its slot. When all positions agree, the box opens and provides the razor. The razor is required for Aldous's first grooming request.

Hint for waking Aldous

Light hint: the morning routine in the room tells you a precise time, and the curtains also matter. Do not try to start grooming while the room is still in its sleeping state. Set the environment before interacting with Aldous.

Direct answer: read the routine, set the clock to 7:00, and complete the curtain interaction. Aldous wakes and asks for a shave. Use the razor from the patterned box when that request is active.

Hint for the rest of the morning routine

Light hint: Aldous announces each missing part of the routine in order. Objects such as the slipper, razor, bowl, and prepared breakfast belong to those prompts. Do not use the exercise input until he says it is time to exercise.

Direct answer: follow his spoken requests through shaving, ear cleaning, slippers, breakfast, exercise, and outfit preparation. The text transcripts do not retain every exact grooming hotspot, so those small gestures are To be confirmed and should be copied from the current screen. When he rejects a step, his next line identifies what is incomplete.

Hint for the porridge feedback

Light hint: after you present breakfast, Aldous says something is missing. His cold-feet reminder, the bird at the window, and a locked bedroom drawer form the next item chain. The bowl's black dots show where the final collected ingredient belongs.

Direct answer: put both slippers on Aldous, inspect the bird, take the key from its nest, open the top drawer, and collect the berries. Place the berries on the black dots in the porridge view, then feed Aldous until he says he has had enough. The Lite and Demo videos visually confirm this chain without requiring an invented quantity.

Hint for the exercise

Light hint: the toy soldier demonstrates a six-input directional pattern, and Aldous must copy it. Let the soldier finish before returning to him. The pattern contains two consecutive right inputs near the end.

Direct answer: activate the toy soldier, watch its cue, return to Aldous, and enter left, right, down, right, right, down with the screen-edge controls. Do not add an initial tap or collapse the repeated Right. After the sequence is accepted, move on to the outfit request.

Hint for finishing the preview

Light hint: the final instruction is verbal and points away from Aldous. Once he is dressed, he mentions the visitors. Use the view that would let a servant check their approach.

Direct answer: complete the outfit interaction, continue the dialogue, and look outside when Aldous asks whether you can see the guests coming. The arriving carriage closes the Demo and Lite. There is no additional verified preview chapter after that scene.

Full game hints — Day 1

Light hint: the candle mechanism near the portraits wants more than just placing the missing candle. A clue elsewhere in the room shows an order, not just a set of positions.

Direct answer: find the missing candle, place it with the others, then light every candle in the sequence the clue shows. See P01-18 in the complete walkthrough for the illustrated step.

Light hint: the suitcase lock reads across three positions, not down. Follow the clue from one side of the case to the other, not top to bottom.

Direct answer: read the suitcase clue left to center to right and enter 374. Packing the case afterward is a separate shape-fitting step — fit every item in by its outline, not by category, to reveal the coin and banknote inside.

Light hint: the wine-bottle fragments already show the digits; the puzzle is arranging them, not finding new numbers.

Direct answer: arrange the bottle fragments to read 1753, then take the wine.

Light hint: the nine-square grid wants matching lines across the whole layout at once, not one square solved in isolation.

Direct answer: connect the patterns across the full 3×3 grid to release the small fish figurine, which continues the drawer mechanism.

Full game hints — Day 2

Light hint: the room-number lock isn't guesswork — each family member's position in the house (above, left, right) maps directly onto the digits.

Direct answer: use Alexandra above, William on the left, and Aldous on the right to enter 315 and collect the coffee beans.

Light hint: the family keepsake box wants items matched to people, not to each other. Think about which object belongs to which portrait.

Direct answer: match the mother with the ruby, the father with the pipe, and the children with the wine glass and crow, then take the goblet.

Light hint: the bathroom tiles sort into six categories shown by the clue — if a tile isn't fitting, it's probably in the wrong category, not the wrong slot within a category.

Direct answer: group the tiles into humans, body parts, animals, plants, furniture, and personal objects. The slider puzzle that follows only allows horizontal or vertical moves where the piece stays supported by a neighbor — the herb is the reward for finishing it.

Light hint: the body-part code comes from reactions you've already seen linked to specific parts, not from a hidden number written anywhere.

Direct answer: use the collected reactions tied to meat, bone, eye, nose, and the other parts to enter 921276.

Light hint: the three pocket watches don't all show the same time — the clock faces revealed earlier in the cave record each one separately.

Direct answer: hang all three watches and set them to 8:00, 4:00, and 10:00 to reveal the ancient book.

Full game hints — Day 3

Light hint: the direction lock follows the symbol relationships from the frame you inspected earlier, not a fixed pattern.

Direct answer: enter Left, Left, Right, Right, Left, Right to open the compartment and take the matches.

Light hint: the elixir recipe is order-sensitive — adding the right ingredients in the wrong sequence won't finish it.

Direct answer: add the juice, acid, oil, and three drops of blood in that exact order.

Light hint: the dinner-service puzzle tracks three separate guest preferences at once — re-reading each guest's stated preference is faster than guessing by trial and error.

Direct answer: for appetizers, William skips bread and Alexandra takes rabbit, with wine for everyone. For the main course, the master is vegetarian with an allergy, William eats double with variety, and Aldous prefers meat. For dessert, the master gets only cheese, chocolate never pairs with cheese, and William — who dislikes yellow food — gets one more piece than his brother.

Light hint: the late-story number lock combines clues you've already recorded earlier in the day, not a new code shown only once.

Direct answer: combine the earlier number clues into 358 to open the mechanism.

When a hint should say To be confirmed

Hidden-achievement interactions, the post-ending Kate's brother quest, and any exact hotspot coordinate or timing not shown above are covered in the complete walkthrough rather than repeated here as a light hint. A future patch could also change an object's position or a puzzle's exact layout; if the current game screen doesn't match a step above, follow what's on screen and treat the mismatch as To be confirmed rather than a guide error.

The same rule applies if a store update changes a mobile hotspot or visual layout. The stable logic can still be useful, while an old coordinate or animation may no longer match. Prefer the current game's prompt and official build over an unsupported precise claim.
